My dog is always getting out his toys and leaving them out and l want him to learn how to put them away. He has a ''toy bin'' that holds all his toys and it would be nice if he could put them back when he is done.

Can you train your dog to put its own toys away in a certain spot

Yes you can, he might not put them away on his own, but you can teach him to put them away when you tell him to.

make a game out of it and do not forget to reward them, even if the effort on his or her part does not hit it off right away, praise him for at least trying, and keep it up, he will get the general idea.

Wishful thinking :))))
Late Entry : to the MORONS marking me down.
Yes, surely every prick can train his dog bring a toy to a toybox on ''command''.
However, I do not think THAT was a question.

YES, I have a Australian Cattle Dog & when was a bit younger, being that he is staill a pup I would pick his toys up every night & put them into a basket. He would often take them right back out or just watch me. So after this ritual of a few weeks I started saying lets put ur toys in the basket & get a treat eventually he started to put all of his toys in a basket. Now he is 10 months old & I have started telling him lets get ready for bed he runs around picks all his toys up & puts them in the basket & then goes to the door to potty & than gets in bed & gets a treat.. Hope this helps & have fun..

Absolutely.

What you can not do, however, is teach him to do it himself (as in, without you giving him the command). You can teach him how to pick something up and then call him to the bin and tell him to drop it -- but they wo not do it all by themselves.
